PEURIFOY RECOMMENDS: Paris, 27 – (From our correspondent Spyros Theodorou) According to reports from Athens to Allied officials here, King Pavlos is about to undertake an initiative to end the current political uncertainty in Greece. As it appears that the solution of forming a tripartite government will not be acceptable to the Greek Rally party and because the current government is unable to deal with the country’s serious domestic and foreign problems, King Pavlos is to embark on the only remaining solution open to him, which is to go to the people within the second third of November. It appears that the king decided to declare an election after a long discussion with (US Ambassador to Greece John) Peurifoy, who emphasized the need for Greece to acquire a strong and viable government as soon as possible, before the inauguration of the new US president. KIDNAPPING: Trikala, 27 – A 25-year-old woman identified as L.M. yesterday afternoon abducted a young man identified as E.D., aged 20, with the help of her mother. ADDLED EGGS: Yesterday a market court began the hearing of a case against poultry farmers (…) accused of selling stale and addled eggs as fresh, marked with forged stamps. Also in the dock were the (…) veterinary surgeon and the director of the inspection center, the supervisor and inspector.
