World-record lift in Warsaw from Tsakiri

Greece’s Anastasia Tsakiri broke a world record and won three medals – a gold and two silver – at the World Weightlifting Championships in Warsaw last night. Competing in the women’s 63-kilogram category, she won a gold in the clean-and-jerk with a world record lift of 136 kg, as well as a silver in the snatch and overall. Earlier, Giorgos Tzelilis disappointed with 10th placing overall in the men’s 69-kg category. On Wednesday, Greece won three medals, two of these from Charikleia Kastritsi (women’s 58-kg) – a silver in the snatch and a bronze overall. Two-time Olympic silver medalist Leonidas Sabanis (men’s 62-kg) won a silver in the snatch but was injured in the clean-and-jerk.
