Greeks dominate women’s Champions Cup

Vouliagmeni and Olympiakos have great hopes of reaching another Final Four of the Champions Cup in women’s water polo following victories in the first-leg games of the quarterfinals on February 12.

Holder Vouliagmeni beat Orizzonte Catania 13-11 at home, while Olympiakos thrashed Bayer Uerdingen 18-8 in Germany. The second-leg matches are scheduled for March 19.

In the LEN Trophy, however, Greek sides NE Patron and Iraklis have all but missed out on reaching the semifinals.

NEP lost 15-12 to Szentesi in Hungary on February 12, and Iraklis suffered a 13-9 loss at home to Russia’s SKIF Moscow a day later.

The return matches are scheduled for February 26.
