Pantelic nets four for Olympiakos

Olympiakos and Panathinaikos kept the pressure on AEK in the Super League by chalking up away wins on December 11, with Marko Pantelic scoring four goals for the Reds to climb to the second spot in the scorers’ chart, behind Sebastian Leto, who was also on target for Panathinaikos.

Olympiakos beat Kerkyra 4-0 on Corfu to get to within one point of AEK, which beat PAS Giannina a day earlier, although the Reds have a game in hand which they will play on December 14 at Levadiakos.

Pantelic scored a hat trick in the first half-hour to take the game beyond Kerkyra, before adding the fourth in the second half. Kerkyra keeper Mario Galinovic saved a Kevin Mirallas penalty in the first half.

Panathinaikos is two points behind AEK, but has two games in hand, after coming from 1-0 down to beat Panionios 2-1 away.

The Nea Smyrni side was ahead at halftime thanks to Malta international striker Andre Schembri, but Leto equalized from the penalty spot and Costas Katsouranis gave the Greens all three points from close range.

In Sunday’s other games Asteras defeated Aris 1-0 at Tripoli courtesy of a Fernando Usero goal, Panetolikos saw off visiting OFI 1-0 thanks to a William Edjenguele header, and Ergotelis downed Doxa Dramas 2-1 on Crete: Michalis Frangoulakis and Nikos Katsikokeris scored for the Iraklio side while the visitors had Petros Kanakoudis to thank for his temporary equalizer.

That was Doxa’s first goal in six games in the Super League this season.
