Kolossos registers new record in Basket League

Three rounds of games before the end of the regular season in the Basket League, Kolossos Rhodes made history on Wednesday by becoming the first team outside Athens and Thessaloniki to notch up 15 victories in the championship.

The team is enjoying the best season in its history as it sits pretty at the third spot on the table following its easy win over relegated Maroussi with an 86-62 score on Rhodes.

Kolossos is five points behind leader Olympiakos, which sat this round out, and four behind Panathinaikos.

The Greens celebrated the lifting of the Greek Cup with their fans four days earlier before thrashing AGO Rethymnou 105-78.

Panionios, in fourth, defeated Peristeri 77-60, while Kavala stayed fifth with a 79-71 win at Ikaros Kallitheas.

Aris scored a precious victory over crosstown rival PAOK. The 81-71 win satisfied the capacity crowd at Thessaloniki?s Alexandrion Sports Hall and consolidated the Yellows? eighth spot, which leads to the playoffs. It also means that should Aris and PAOK end up level on points, which is very likely, Aris will have the edge on a favorable head-to-head record.

Finally, KAOD climbed to ninth with a 94-81 win over Ilisiakos, while its player Dragan Ceranic was voted the most valuable player of the round.
