Leonardo Jardim is the new Olympiakos coach

Olympiakos announced on Thursday that Portuguese manager Leonardo Jardim was set to join the club for the next two years. He will replace departed Spanish coach Ernesto Valverde.

Jardim, who last year managed Sporting Braga, enjoying a record 15 consecutive wins with the Portuguese club, arrived in Piraeus on Tuesday and agreed a deal.

He is set to return to Greece on Monday and will be officially presented by the Greek champion next week.

Full name Jose Leonardo Nunes Alves Sousa Jardim, the 37-year-old coach was born in Venezuela to Portuguese parents. Olympiakos will be his first endeavor outside Portugal, having already coached Camacha, Chaves, Beira-Mar and Braga.

The Iberian country appears to be a popular source of coaches for high-profile teams in Greece at the moment, with Fernando Santos managing the national team and Jesualdo Ferreira at Panathinaikos.
