Avraam Papadopoulos returns to action

Olympiakos, Levadiakos, Panthrakikos and Veria completed the quarterfinal line-up for this year’s Greek Cup after earning their tickets to the last eight with victories on Wednesday and Thursday.

They join Platanias, PAS Giannina, PAOK and Asteras Tripolis, who had qualified from last week. The draw for the quarterfinals will take place on Monday.

Dimitris Siovas scored Olympiakos’s sole goal at second-division Kavala on Wednesday for the holder’s 1-0 win in the second leg of the tie that it won with a 3-0 aggregate score.

The game also marked the return to action of Olympiakos and Greece defender Avraam Papadopoulos, who had got injured while playing with the national team at Euro 2012 last June.

Also on Wednesday, Veria saw off Xanthi winning 2-0 away from home, while on Thursday Levadiakos defeated host Kerkyra 1-0 and Panthrakikos thrashed second-division Apollon Smyrnis 4-1 at home.
