Filippidis wins at Doha with national pole vault record

Costas Filippidis won the pole vault event at the IAAF Diamond League track and field meet in Doha on Friday evening by registering a new Greek record of 5.82 meters.

The Greek champion cleared the same height as Germany’s Malte Mohr, but won on the strength of the better overall record of attempts in the contest.

Filippidis broke his own national outdoor record of 5.80 meters, while his indoor record is 5.83 m. from last winter.

In the triple jump Dimitris Tsiamis finished seventh with 16.53 meters and in javelin Spyros Lembesis was eighth with 73.92 m.
