PAOK wins its first volleyball cup

PAOK triumphed with a 3-1 score over Olympiakos on Sunday in the final of the Greek men’s volleyball Cup to win the trophy for the first time in its history and head for a double as it is also leading the standings in the league.

The Thessaloniki giant defeated the tournament’s Final Four host Finikas Syrou 3-0 at Ermoupoli in Saturday’s semifinal.

It then saw off its main rival to the league title Olympiakos in front of stands with mixed fans and no violence whatsoever.

The sets in the final were 25-23, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22.

Former Olympiakos setter Vassilis Kournetas won the Most Valuable Player award in what is only his first season at PAOK.
