Panathinaikos to face Porto

Panathinaikos players train last night at their home playing-field in Athens, ahead of today’s Champions League match against Porto. Panathinaikos qualified top of its group in the first phase of the Champions League and now faces Porto, Real Madrid and Sparta Prague in the second phase. Two teams from the group will advance to the quarter-finals. Ioannidis, one of the country’s most successful trainers at club-level competition over the past 15 years, who coached Aris to numerous Greek titles in the 1980s before switching clubs to do likewise with Olympiakos, will be hoping to repeat his recipe of success with the national team.
