Competing at the World Championships…
Competing at the World Championships in Croatia, Greece’s Sofia Bekatorou, a firm favorite for the gold at the Athens Olympics, following four world sailing titles with partner Emilia Tsoulfa in the women’s 470 class, suffered what appears to be a serious lower-back injury yesterday. Preliminary tests conducted indicated that surgery may be required. If so, it would most likely eliminate Bekatorou’s chances for gold this summer.
