Aiming at the gold of 2004 Olympics
Beach volleyball duo Effi Sfyri (l) and Vasso Karantassiou hold the European Championship trophy they won last week, on arrival in Athens Sunday. Karantassiou and Sfyri easily defeated their Swiss opponents 2-0 sets in the final. They will now aim for gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Greece’s national league, not one of Europe’s more renowned competitions, begins on September 23.
