Charisteas hospitalized for nausea
AMSTERDAM (AP) – Ajax striker Angelos Charisteas was briefly hospitalized yesterday after feeling nauseous in an Amsterdam cafe. Dutch television station AT5 reported that the Greek international fainted and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Doctors have ruled out any connection to the concussion he received against Arsenal three weeks ago in a Champions League match. Charisteas, best known for scoring Greece’s winning goal against Portugal in the final of the 2004 European Championship, has been sidelined since September 27 when he collided with Arsenal’s Kolo Toure. He has scored eight times in 18 matches for Ajax since his transfer in December.
