Panathinaikos misses Euroleague Final Four

Tau Ceramica eliminated Panathinaikos from the Euroleague, winning 74-71 at Athens’s Olympic complex’s basketball arena last night and earning a ticket to the Euroleague Final Four by winning the quarterfinal series 2-1. The Spanish side led for most of the match, silencing the 18,000-strong crowd and repulsing the Greeks’ late comeback. Tonight Olympiakos will try and join Tau Ceramica in the Final Four in Prague, facing Maccabi in Tel Aviv in the series decisive match. On Tuesday night Dinamo Moscow proved too high a hurdle for Aris Thessaloniki in the final of the ULEB Cup. Led by two Greeks, Antonis Fotsis and Lazaros Papadopoulos, the Russians won 73-60 in Charleroi, Belgium. Aris led for the last time 42-39 in the third period, but then Dinamo outclassed it despite the support of about 5,000 Greek fans.
