Daniilidou makes semifinals in Paris
Greece’s Eleni Daniilidou and Spain’s Anabel Medina Garriques, ranked 37th in the women’s doubles category, advanced to the French Open semifinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win yesterday over French-Russian duo Nathalie Dechy and Vera Zvonar. Daniilidou had reached the mixed doubles final at the Australian Open in 2003. She had to race against time to regain fitness for the Roland Garros tournament. A fortnight ago, Daniilidou was forced to pull out of an Istanbul tournament during first-round singles play after straining a muscle.
