Winning night for locals

Olympiakos, up against Dynamo Moscow, and coach Dusan Ivkovic, the man who led the Greek club to its only Euroleague basketball title back in 1997, shrugged off a late challenge from the visiting Russians to win 86-73 last night and remain joint leader of Group A. The Piraeus team shares top spot with Tau Ceramica. Both have five wins and a defeat. Dynamo Moscow now has a 3-3 record. Tau Ceramica, also playing last night, defeated Polish team Prokom 75-70. Thessaloniki team Aris showed character in a tense finale to beat Zalgiris 73-66 last night and bolster its Group C midtable standing. The Greek team has won three of its six group games.
