Aris hosts CSKA, Europe’s champ
Fresh from an impressive win in Istanbul last week over Fenerbahce Ulker that consolidated its bid for a place in the Euroleague’s next round, Aris takes on the reigning European Champion CSKA in Thessaloniki tonight. Match tickets have sold out. Last week’s win in Turkey gave Aris, fifth in Group C, a two-game lead over its nearest rivals, Fenerbahce and Eldo Napoli. The top five teams advance to the next stage. «We find our rivals confident after their very important win in Istanbul against Fenerbahce. We know how difficult it is to play Aris in Thessaloniki,» said CSKA coach Ettore Messina. Also tonight, Olympiakos, second in Group A, hosts Climamio Bologna, which is equal last. Panathinaikos, the competition’s only undefeated side after eight rounds of group play, is hosted by Cimbona tomorrow.
