Tough games in Euroleague
Two very tough away games for Olympiakos and Aris and a rather easy home match for Panathinaikos are on the Euroleague menu for local basketball fans this week. Olympiakos plays tonight in Moscow against European champions CSKA, which has already beaten the Piraeus club in Greece. The Russians have mathematically clinched the top spot in this group, while Olympiakos will not mind losing this one, as the key fixture is next week at home against Spain’s Joventut Badalona. Aris is already eliminated, so its trip to Treviso to face Benetton tonight is only for appearances’ sake. However, the Thessaloniki club has been a tough opponent for all teams in its group and it will not go down without a fight. Panathinaikos hosts Poland’s Prokom Trefl tomorrow, and anything other than a comfortable home win would be a major surprise. Elsewhere, Panionios visits Spain to meet Akasvayu Girona tonight for a place in the FIBA Eurocup semifinals in the last game of the best-of-three series.
