PAOK facing serious threat of its first-ever relegation
Thessaloniki basketball club PAOK hosts crosstown rival Aris today and needs a victory in order to avoid relegation to the A2 division. PAOK, a traditional force in the top league, goes into today’s final round of home-and-away play tied in second-to-last place with Reth-ymnon and Kolossos. Should PAOK lose and midtable AEK lose to Kolossos, the Thessaloniki team will be relegated for the first time in the club’s history. Though PAOK rates as a far weaker side than third-placed Aris this season, the club will rely on passion and home stadium support for survival.
