Violation of Greek airspace was ‘a mistake,’ Ankara says
Ankara has apologized for the violation last week of Greek air space by a Turkish helicopter saying it was “a mistake,” Kathimerini understands.
An AS532 Cougar helicopter flew twice over the eastern Aegean island of Samos on December 9. Turkish diplomats have reportedly informed the Greek Embassy in Ankara that the pilot was on a training flight and was not aware of having entered Greek air space.
Greek defense officials, who were reportedly about to lodge a demarche with Ankara, do not appear appeased by the excuses as Turkish violations have been on the rise over the past few months.
