Dijsselbloem talks about more aid

Greece will likely require a third bailout package, Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem reiterated on Wednesday in an interview on Dutch TV.

Echoing his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble, the Dutch finance minister said that the amount Greece will require and on what level the new assistance will be organized will be discussed during the summer.

He added that Greece’s debt remains at a high level and «if Greece must finance it, the rate will range around 6 to 7 percent, which will be almost impossible,» so Greece must either boost its economy or get another bailout.

The International Monetary Fund announced on Wednesday that the report on its fifth assessment of the Greek program’s progress will be issued on Thursday evening – Greek time – with the Greek Finance Ministry stating that the report will acknowledge that this year’s targets will be met without any new measures and that the growth rate will increase considerably in the coming years.
