Deadline for ‘social dividend’ applications expires

Monday marks the deadline for Greeks who believe they meet the criteria for receiving a share of the country’s 2013 primary surplus, the so-called «social dividend» to submit their applications.

The government has set out some 450 million euros to hand out to individuals that meet the income criteria (e.g. less than 7,050 euros per year for unmarried Greeks) with each successful applicant receiving 500 euros.

So far, close to 250 million euros has been paid out to applicants.
