Australia relaxes visa rules for skilled workers

Australia is making it easier for skilled workers to seek employment in the country known for its notoriously strict immigration policy, which has resulted in a shortage of experts in a number of professional fields.

Car mechanics, carpenters, builders, nurses and geriatric care specialists, as well as business managers are being sought to prop up areas of the economy that are flagging due to a labor shortage, giving hope to thousands of skilled unemployed Greeks.

According to The Australian, applications for skilled worker visas have plummeted from 81,000 to 50,000 in the 2013-14 period.
