The findings of an investigation by the Polygyros Fire Service into the blaze last week at the home of soccer referee Giorgos Bikas in Halkidiki, northern Greece, confirmed that it was the result of an arson attack.
The findings have been sent to a local prosecutor.
The house suffered major damage, but Bikas, who is the head of the country’s soccer refereeing committee, and his family were not there at the time.
In response, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) suspended all national soccer championships until the conclusion of the investigation into the causes of the blaze by the fire services.
The damages will be covered by the soccer league’s organizers, the Super League, and FIFA, the world governing soccer body.
