Police attacked in Exarchia

Two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old appeared before a prosecutor on Saturday after being arrested earlier in the day for their role in a series of attacks against riot police in the central district of Exarchia.

According to reports, a group of hooded youths poured out of the Athens Polytechnic shortly after midnight and hurled Molotov cocktails and stones at a riot police unit on the corner of Patission and Tositsa streets.

As a result police blocked access to Patission for around half an hour. But the attacks continued at 2.50 a.m. and the street was closed to traffic again until 4 a.m.

At the same time, another group of hooded youths attacked a riot unit on Harilaou Trikoupi Street with rocks and makeshift firebombs.

No one was reported injured in the clashes
