ATHEX: Bullish traders offer bourse fresh momentum
Many traders appear convinced the Greek economy’s long-term prospects are positive, and on Thursday injected the local stock market with fresh upward momentum.
The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 781.85 points, adding 0.85 percent to Wednesday’s 775.24 points. The large-cap FTSE 25 index expanded 0.78 percent to 2,077.72 points, broadly thanks to banks climbing 3.73 percent.
In total 60 stocks increased, 38 declined and 23 stayed put.
Turnover reached 77.8 million euros, down from Wednesday’s 180.4 million.
In Nicosia the general index of the Cyprus Stock Exchange rose 0.39 percent to 77.46 points.
