The western port city of Patra will be hosting a three-day jazz event from June 8 to 10 as part of its annual summer festival, featuring four critically acclaimed acts. The series of shows, which will take place in the atrium of the Old Municipal Hospital at 14 Kirilou Street, will begin on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. with the Sokratis Sinopoulos Quartet playing the frontman’s own special blend of exploratory jazz and contemporary music. Friday’s program begins at 9 p.m. with local act In Duologue, comprising Netherlands-based double-bassist Vasilis Stefanopoulos and vocalist Alexandra Lerta. That will be followed by a band hailed as one of the most promising jazz acts in the UK today, high-energy, folk-infused Dinosaur, with Laura Jurd on trumpet, Elliot Galvin on keyboards, Conor Chaplin on electric bass and Corrie Dick on drums. On Saturday at 9.30 p.m., the Patra festival presents legendary Italian trumpet master Enrico Rava and his quartet in a career-spanning show.
