Seven Dark Years | Thessaloniki | To June 30

From April 21, 1967, the day a military coup overthrew the democratically elected government in Greece, until July 23, 1974, the day the junta fell, the country was ruled by the iron fist of the colonels. This seven-year period is being remembered at the Historical Center of Thessaloniki with an exhibition titled “Seven Dark Years.” The exhibition is complete with photographs from major events of the era, historic newspaper articles, printed manuscripts and audiovisual media. Visitors to the exhibition can also explore the international resistance to the dictatorship and the plight of those in Greece who were punished for their dissent against it. The exhibition is free and open to the public Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
