Iznik Ceramics | Athens | To November 19

The Benaki Museum of Islamic Arts presents an exhibition dedicated to fine ceramics produced in the city of Iznik in Asia Minor from the last quarter of the 15th century until the end of the 17th century. The exhibition highlights European interest in Iznik pottery in the 1800s, the gradual formation of collections, early studies and the revival of the style in workshops in Europe, Turkey and Greece. Organizers recommend that visitors also take in the related exhibition “ICARO – IKAROS,” which is devoted to the ceramic workshops of Rhodes between 1928 and 1988, on display over the same period as the Iznik ceramics show, through November 19, at the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture (1 Koumbari, Kolonaki). Opening hours are Thursdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
