Reassuring foreign investors

This government – or any Greek government for that matter – must first and foremost be capable of inspiring confidence among those who have already invested their money in Greece, as well as those who are considering or planning to undertake the same risk.

After these people have been convinced that something really has changed in the way they’re treated by Greece’s political establishment and the country’s deep state, as it were, they may have the kind of positive experience that will become a magnet for new investors.

For the time being, foreign investors are stymied by the sterile negativism of ideologically-fixated or plainly inept government officials and civil servants.

This is one of the first things that needs to change if we want anyone to follow US President Donald Trump’s recent recommendation to investors to look for opportunities in Greece. Because right now, the painful experiences of past  and present investors will put them off before they even start looking.
