Police investigating the violent murder of a 32-year-old tax inspector in an Athens cemetery last month are seeking a man aged around 60 years who was captured by the security camera of a store near Omonia Square in central Athens selling the woman’s phone just over an hour after her death.

Theodora Zeberi, who was found dead last month in a cemetery in Ano Patissia, had been stabbed 14 times, according to a coroner’s report.

Initially a police investigation focused on the friends, colleagues and relatives of the 32-year-old who had paid frequent visits to the cemetery following the death of a loved one, according to sources.

The focus of the probe shifted though when the woman’s cell phone, which the killer took along with her bag, was traced to Omonia Square. After inspections on shops in the area, officers found the one where her phone was sold and then examined the security camera footage.
