Wrong approach

The first measure that needed to be taken in tackling the resurgence of the migration crisis was to transfer asylum applicants to the mainland.

Apart from practical, it would have sent the message that the rest of the country was sharing the islanders’ burden.

But the operation has now hit a wall somewhere between the Interior Ministry and local authorities – with the well-known consequences.
