Archbishop’s health

Christodoulos to leave intensive care

Archbishop Christodoulos is likely to be discharged from the intensive care unit of Athens’ Aretaio hospital today following an improvement in his health after surgery. Christodoulos, who has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver, underwent an operation to remove a tumor from his intestine.

Samos fire

A fire that broke out on eastern Samos on Saturday was extinguished yesterday lunchtime. It is unclear how much damage was caused by the blaze or how it broke out. No one was injured.

Van blaze

A police patrol van caught fire yesterday while being driven in Thessaloniki but no one in the vehicle was injured. The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit or fuel leak.

Evia quake

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck the area northwest of Evia at noon yesterday but no injuries or damage were reported.
