Conservative MP in racist rant over civil unions

A proposal by socialist MPs to open civil unions in Greece to same-sex couples sparked a racist rant from a conservative deputy on Friday as he compared homosexuality to pedophilia and bestiality.

“In the Netherlands there are parties that recognize pedophilia. Does that mean that we have to imitate them?,” New Democracy MP Tasos Neratzis said during a debate in Parliament.

“There are also brothels which allow bestiality. Does that mean we have to allow it too?” he said adding that civil partnerships had “no place” in the country.
