Athens Mayor files suit against Golden Dawn MP

Golden Dawn's Giorgos Germenis.

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis pressed charges against extreme right Golden Dawn MP Giorgos Germenis on Wednesday.

The suit was filed with regard to an incident on May 2 in which Kaminis was assaulted by the Golden Dawn deputy after police prevented the far-right paty from staging a food handout aimed only at Greeks on Syntagma Square.

According to reports, Germenis allegedly tried to hit Kaminis inside the premises of the City of Athens social grocery before he was stopped by the mayors security guards. A 12-year-old girl was allegedly injured during the attack.
