Migrant dies after boat sinks off Tilos, 81 rescued

Greek coast guard vessels were scouring the area off the coast of Tilos, in the Dodecanese, on Friday after a smuggling boat carrying dozens of would-be immigrants sank following a fire on the vessel, leading to at least one death.

Turkish coast guard officers rescued 81 migrants and a Greek vessel recovered the body of another. No details were available about their ethnic origin.

Coast guard boats, a Super Puma rescue helicopter and a Navy war ship were patrolling the broader to trace possible survivors.
