Device goes off outside home of magistrate probing Proton Bank
A homemade bomb that detonated in front of an apartment building in the northern Athenian suburb of Holargos early Friday is believed to be linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged embezzlement at Proton Bank, as the investigating magistrate probing the affair is a resident of the block.
The device, which caused no injuries, was similar to one planted outside a building in Halandri last November. The Bank of Greece employee responsible for compiling the report that led to the Proton Bank probe was a resident of that block.
Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis announced on Thursday a new government initiative, to apply from January 2014, that will offer 75,000 new jobs for young people.
