Cypriot recession persists

Cypruss economy contracted 1.6 percent in the first quarter of 2012, the Nicosia-based Cyprus Statistical Service said in a statement on its website on Friday.

That compared with an initial estimate on May 15 of a contraction of 1.5 percent. [Bloomberg]
