EIB to provide another 200 mln euros for Greek SMEs

The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Tuesday that it would be providing another 200 million euros for Greek small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through local banks.

The loans, 150 million euros of which is going to the National Bank of Greece and 50 million to Alpha Bank, are intended to finance projects in the industry, tourism and services sectors.

The EIB credit lines are being provided under the Guarantee Fund for Greek SMEs specially established in 2012 to cater for the financing needs of SMEs in Greece, said the European lender.

To date, more than 250 SMEs all over Greece have benefited from the first three loans signed by the EIB with Greek banks under this facility, with further allocations expected in the coming months.
