Labor peace meeting achieves no results

A meeting between Labor Minister Antonis Roupakiotis (right) and Dimitris Daskalopoulos (left), the head of the Federation of Enterprises and Industries (SEV), along with other representatives of employee associations, on the subject of industrial relations, ended without any concrete results on Friday.

The caretaker minister’s initiative to avert any shifts in labor relations, now that most collective labor contracts have expired, proved to be no more than a mere expression of desire for industrial peace ‘by avoiding tension in labor relations until a new government is elected,’ as Roupakiotis stated.

However, the intention of employers to restore minimum wages to their previous, higher levels was evident.
