NTUA decline must be reversed

The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) used to be Greece’s top tertiary institution and a worthy rival of its foreign counterparts.

These days, what Greeks better know as the Polytechnic has degenerated into an asylum for a small minority that wants to impose its will on the majority. By force, if it has to.

Recent developments at the Athens institution – the sorry state of this historic building and the ongoing attempts to stop the election of independent councils – are a cause for shame and concern.

It’s time that the NTUA professors and students who respect its tradition and those who want the school to remain a center for knowledge took action.
