OFI Crete hires Gennaro Gattuso as its new manager

By George Georgakopoulos

OFI has secured the services of Italian manager Gennaro Gattuso for the next season in the Super League, the Cretan club announced on Thursday.

The former AC Milan, Rangers and Italy defender is making his first steps in his international coaching career and OFI has reached a deal to hire him for the 2014-15 season.

OFI president Manthos Poulinakis reportedly traveled to Milan last weekend and managed to change the Italian’s mind, who after his visit to Iraklio last month he had come close to signing an agreement but his reservations stopped him at the time. It now appears that Poulinakis and Gattuso have agreed to a contract, and the Italian will bring along one of his assistants to OFI.
