King Philip or Demosthenes?

As part of the exhibition “Chaeronea, 2 August, 338 BC: A Day that Changed the World,” the Cycladic Art Museum hosted a speech Friday titled “The Great Question: King Philip or Demosthenes?” by Oxford University professor Robin Lane Fox, scientific adviser for Oliver Stone’s “Alexander.”

It focused on the personal conflict between the king of Macedonia and the Athenian politician and orator, which was followed by the Battle of Chaeronea and the Macedonians’ victory.

Angeliki Kottaridi, honorary director of the Imathia Ephorate of Antiquities, will speak on “Alexander and Aristotle in Mieza: The Royal Gymnasium, Chaeronea and the Creation of the ‘New World'” on March 4.
