Day-Lewis’s next film to be a family affair

Daniel Day-Lewis – son of Britain’s poet laureate Cecil Day-Lewis and the actress Jill Bolton, herself the daughter of Sir Michael Bolton, the greatest film producer in postwar Britain at Ealing Studios – recently dedicated his award for Best Actor from the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) to his «ideal companion,» his wife Rebecca, the mother of the two youngest of his three children. The actor, who is tipped to get an Oscar at the awards in Los Angeles on March 23 (that is if Jack Nicholson doesn’t beat him to the post), announced that he is to star in a movie to be directed by his wife, based on her screenplay which she wrote with Michael Rohatyn and which is titled «Rosa and the Snake.» Day-Lewis is to play the father of a 16-year old girl; the two live on an island, where eventually a love interest arrives from the outside world. Daniel visited Athens recently for the Greek premiere of «Gangs of New York» which was in aid of the Spastics Protection Society. The children of the «Open Door» send their friend and benefactor their best wishes and good luck as he awaits his second Oscar (after his first for «My Left Foot»).
