Tricycle attacks sports
Their aim is to make people laugh – a lot. As the Tricycle trio performs in Athens this month (performances run to Sunday) local audiences have the opportunity to witness an alternative performance titled «Slastic» in which actors/acrobats analyze the world of sport. Tricycle’s philosophy brings together elements from various artistic disciplines: silent movies, clown techniques as well as conventional theater. The innovative artistic group was established in Barcelona in 1979, the day three friends decided to abandon their less-than-exciting jobs and join forces in comedy. Self-taught Paco Mir, Carles Sans and Joan Garcia have been compared to 20th century comic geniuses, such as Buster Keaton, the Marx brothers and Jacques Tati. They are also the recipients of prestigious awards, such as Edith Piaf Award for Best Foreign Show in France. Second generation The company’s huge success led to the establishment of a second team in 1991.
