Celebrating language

The Goethe Institute in Thessaloniki is celebrating the Day of European Languages with theater and music performed by pupils from the Kalamaria and German Schools. Admission is free. International Translation Day September 30 is the feast of Saint Jerome, patron saint of translators, and the European Translation Center (EKEMEL) is celebrating with an all-day event devoted to children’s literature at the Hytirio Theater, 44 Iera Odos, Athens. Illustrators Nathali Novi, Carll Cneut, Quentin Blake, Julian Press and Kveta Pacovska will share their skills with children in workshops, and there will be storytelling, a round-table discussion on «Illustration, an International language?,» a tribute to best-selling Greek children’s writer Alki Zei and an exhibition of work by leading children’s book illustrators.
