The hot news from the art scene is the upcoming exhibition «Byzantium: Faith and Power (1261-1557)» at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Philippe de Montebello, the director of the museum, is holding a press conference on Tuesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel to announce the exhibition, which will run from March 23 to July 4, 2004. The exhibition is being sponsored by Alpha Bank, with further support from the Ioannis F. Costopoulos Foundation, the A.G. Leventis Foundation, and the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation. It is a kind of sequel to «The Glory of Byzantium,» a grand exhibition supported by Alpha Bank and Citibank three years ago, which attracted large crowds.
