April in Alexandria…
April in Alexandria, and the annual board meeting of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina took place with members coming from around the world. Among them were Unesco Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyianni, photographed here (center) with library president Suzanne Mubarak and fellow board member Professor Michael Cernea of Washington University. Afterward the library held the Biovision forum, from April 3 to 6, on applications for new biotechnologies that will benefit humanity.
