A new event celebrating the short list for last year’s state fiction prize will be inaugurated Monday by the Stoa tou Vivliou book arcade. The contenders were «Foreign Words» by Vassilis Alexakis (pub. Exantas), «Che Committed Suicide» by Petros Markaris (Gavriilidis), «From One Image to Another» by Dimitris Nollas (Kastaniotis), «Agiographia» by Nikos Panayiotopoulos (Polis), and «Like Broken Wings» by Tassos Hadzitatis (Polis). Actors Alkis Panayiotidis, Michalis Tsourounakis, Iota Festa and Dimitra Hatoupi will read excerpts. Winning screenplays Two screenplays by young writers shared the prize for a screenplay based on a work of literature, instituted this year by the National Book Center (EKEBI). The winners are «Skaribim-Skaribob» by Manolis Tsipou and Vassilis Noulas, from a book by Yiannis Skaribas, and «Prosklitirio» («Invitation») by Katerina Filiotou, based on a short story of the same name by Kiki Dimoula. They were announced Sunday during the opening ceremony of the Drama Short Film Festival, now in its 38th year. Launches Ellinika Grammata publishers are launching Yianna Fassilis’s latest book «I ‘Symmoria’ ton Mikron Angelon» («The ‘Gang’ of Little Angels») tonight at the Athens Municipality Cultural Center.
