Markopoulos supports women refugees

If any of you are wondering whether there is anything more serious happening in music, there is always tomorrow night’s performance by composer Yiannis Markopoulos at the Athens Concert Hall in aid of women refugees. The concert is being held by the Women Refugees Protection Program set up by the General Secretariat for Equality and the UN High Commission for Refugees in Athens, and sponsored by the Culture Ministry. Markopoulos, as ebullient as ever, said in a statement marking International Women’s Day yesterday, that «women are the soul of the world.» Singing at the concert will be Markopoulos’s wife Vassiliki Lavina and a host of other stars. Greece’s headline inflation in February dropped to 3.4 percent year-on-year from 4.4 percent in January, beating market expectations.
